Some may remember the old, large and big rear projection TV. Our project task was to produce a new concept for such a screen. It is based on the outdated rear projection technology but using state-of-the-art techniques of transparency and holography. The first approach put together the thin glass and projector technology. However, the positioning of the screen to the viewer was not easy to implement, what became a problem. Therefor the engineers calculated the perfect viewing angle. As a result, the viewer does not have to adjust the screen. During the second step of the design phase we tried to miniaturize the device. The concept is just an intermediate step on the way to holography. The short-throw projection will continue to evolve until there is no static projection surface anymore. In the future pictures will be displayed as holographies floating in the room. That is our goal!
